Hawaii has it all, well maybe not the wildebeest safari. But they have things you wouldn't expect: active and inactive Volcanoes; you can stand on the rim of Hallema'uma'u Firepit, and with luck watch Pele at play as lava fountains spring up from the firepit. You can even walk through a long lava tube, created by a molten stream centuries ago. Or, book a helicopter ride over the Volcano. If this isn't something you would like to do, then how about Stargazing on Hawaii's Big Island: Home to one of the most renowned astronomical sites on the planet.
